B. If AI is able to use the lanron the existing Tucson Mine to process material from the
ater forage Reservoir A Area ast Mining ea , at least until sufficient area is
excavated to allow the installation of a new plant in the excavate area, the new p ant
wil a set-up in the bottom of this excavated area on the northern portion oft e
Water tora~e Reservoir A Area (East Mining Area). This alternative is the preferred
o e by AI, Adams County, the City of Brighton, and probably most of the residents
in the area: Under this alternative, silt pond wash water area from the both the
existing Tucson Mine plant until it is moved and from the new plant that would be
located on the northern portion of Water Storage Reservoir A Area (East Mining
Area) will utilize the 27+ acre silt pond area that is presently art ofthe Tucson Nline
until this area is filled with silt matena .After this area is filled with silt, the 24+_ acre
Southwest Mining Area will be utilized for silt water from the plant.
2 Under this alternative, minin would be completed first on the northern portion ofthe
{~ Water Storage B Area (East Mining Area) where the new p anted be set-up.
`, ~ Then.the resr t of Water Storage Area A Area (East Mining Area) would be mined,
.followed by mtmng o t e Water Storage ea (West Mining Area). The 24+ acre
area south of SH7 (Southwest nmg Area) would be mined during the mining of the
above areas, when the existing 27+_ acre area south ofthe existing Tucson Mine is full
with silt material. Reclamation would be completed first on the existing 27+ acre silt
pond area north of the Water Storage A Area (East Mining Area), secondly on the
Water Storage B Area (East Mining Area), third on the Water Storage B Area (West
Mining ea ,and last on the silt pond Southwest IVlinin, Area.
~l'he area west of Water Storage Reservoir B (West Mining Area) will not be mined, but only
!used for storage of material and overburden as needed, and to dispose any overburden that
can't be exported off-site during the life ofthe operation. The area ofthe two ditches and the
dower lines area will be minimally disturbed. Upon completion of reclamation, all of the area
west Water Storage Reservoir B (West Mining Area will be appropriately graded and
revegetated. Potentially the area west of the two ditches may in the future be developed for
resi`~ dentia] or other appropriate use, subject to future County approvals.
4. Truck traffic from the plant will utilize the existing haul route onto 168"' Ave. and then east
to U~ S 85 (80%), except for trips to and from the west on SH7 (20%). The traffic generated
is expected to be 60 morning and afternoon highway eak hour trips, 8~ site peak hour trips,
and 1075 trips per day. Based on prior trection from the County, truck traffic from and to
was to utiTze SH7 to and from U. S. 85, but recent direction from the County, based
on comments from the City of Brighton, AI revised the pr~osed haul route to continue to
primarily utilize the existing Tucson Street toto 168~Avenue to U.S. 85 haul route. This
is included in
of this
Application Booklet. If there are further questions on the revised haul routes, AI is willing
to meet with members of the Department of Public Works, the City of Brighton and/or
CDOT to discuss any further changes or revisions that might be desirable.
