2. The ahernatives on the location ofthe plant to process material excavated from the.operation
are as follows:
A. The first~Iterna~tiv~e, which is the ones presently described on the accompanying DMG
ez "bitst~i will occur if the existing Tucson Mine plant is not allowed to operate to at
least completion ofsufficient area ofthe northern portion of Water Storage Reservoir
A Area (East Mining Area}. Under this scenario, a new plant will have to be set up
on the southwest portion ofthe Wafer Storage ReservoirB Area (West Mining Area).
t Under this alternative, material will be conveyed through a structure under Tucson
Street from the Water Storage Reservoir A Area (East Mining Area) to this new
plant. All structures under Tucson Street will receive approval ofthe Adams County
Department of Public Works.
With the setting up the new plant on the southwest portion of the Water Reservoir B
" Area (West Mining Area) the 24+_ acres area south of SH-7 (Southwest Mining Area)
t will be mined. This area will be wet-mined, and then used as a silt nond for the new
~ plant to ittstalled on the southern part of the Water Storage Reservoir B Area (West
Mining Area). Piping under SH-7 will be utili2ed to transport material and water
v ~ between the plant area and this area, and all piping tinder SH7 will receive approval
1 ; of CDOT. No slurry wall will enclose this area. N[ining of this Southwest Mining
Area will be initiated at the same time the new plant is installed on the southwest
= portion of the Water Storage Reservoir B Area (West Mining Area) to serve as a silt
~' pond wash water area forthe plant being located on the southeast corner of the Water
Storage Reservoir $ Area est mmg ea). This area will be gradually reclaimed
i 1 as farmland, up an s/meadow, or wetlands area with reclamation being comTp-feted
j upon closure of the new plant on the southern part of the Water Storage Reservoir
B. Either or both ofthe existing entrances will be used to move equipment on and off
} tTe site, and for the export of borrow material wilt be necessary at one of the two
3 existing access points from this property onto SH7. As needed, approvals from CDOT
will be obtained for access.
Under this alternative, mining would be completed first on the area south of SH7 as
the new plant was being set-up on the southwest portion ofthe Water Storage B Area
(West Mining Area). Mining would then start on the northern onion of the Water
Storage A Area (East Mining Area , and t en proceed to the Water Storage B Area
(West Mining Area). Upon completion o mining a most of the Water Storage B
Area (West Mining Area ,anew temporary plant would be set-up in an excavated
area of the Water Storage B Area (West Minim Area), the existing new plant
ismantled, and the area of the new mining would be mined last. Reclamation would
be completed first on the existing 27+ acre silt
Area
maiv on the
Area), third on the Water Storage B Area (West
pond Southwest mng Area.
area north of the Water Storage
Storage A Area (East Mining
mine Areal. and last on the silt
