• The proposed site shall be mined by open pit excavation with the use of
dragline and carry-all. Quanity and rate of extraction will be determined
by the demand for materials. Gravel will be removed to the depth of shale
in all areas where suitable materials are found. De-watering trenches will
be dug where possible around the areas of extraction.
Topsoil
Topsoil will be stockpiled throughout the area to be used in the blending
of road materials where necessary and for re-establishing the Land in im-
proved forms for future use. It is expected that the end result of reclama-
tion will greatly improve the entire area by raising the land level in areas
of extreme undersirable seepage to a level suitable for future recreation.
• Earthmoving
The entire Three Bell Farm contains over 800 acres. Mining will affect 240
acres. There will be 170 acres mined of gravel, sand and dirt. There will
be 170 acres of moderately disturbed land due to the stockpiling of gravel
and dirt. It is intended that all 170 acres not mined will receive topsoil
for the express purpose of making all undesirable seep areas usable as rec-
reation might dictate.
It is estimated that there will be approximately 2,500,000 cubic yards of
usable sand and gravel. It is also estimated there would be an excess of
800,000 cubic yards of overburden of which approximately 40% whoul,i 6e usable
topsoil. It is not expected that more than 20 acres would be mined in any
one year. Three Bell land is within 300 feet of the Colorado and Southeren
D-2
•
