Rio Tinto Energy America Page 1 of 2
Colowyo Mine
5731 State Highway 13
Meeker, CO 81641
August 1, 2006
ADDENDUM TO 180 -DAY REPORT
NOTICE OF INTENT NUMBER CX- 2005 - 109 -11
2. Describe reclamations activities
As of this date, all activities related to this NOI and its amendments are complete. Drilling
activity occurred on a total of 98 drill sites. The drill sites were located in the active West Pit
(24), south and west of the West Pit (17) and the Collom project (57). The Collom project area
is approximately 4 miles west of the current Colowyo mining area. The drill sites are shown on
the accompanying map.
WEST PIT (WP) DRILL SITES
Of the 24 West Pit drill sites (noted as 'WP-05' on the map), 10 were located in the active West
Pit mining limits. The drill sites are WP -05 -11 through -15, -18 through -20, -22 and -23. All
drill/core holes on these sites did not exceed in depth the lowest currently mined seam at
Colowyo — the FI coal seam. No plugging of the holes on these sites was performed since the
holes will be mined through in the future. However, all holes on these sites were covered with a
"durable cover" (rock, etc.) over the open drill hole and with the "durable cover" covered with
soil or weathered rock for safety. These sites will be reclaimed during the reclamation of the
West Pit.
WP- 05 -16, -17 and -21 were moved from their original locations to the south by up to 2,500 feet.
The rest of the West Pit drill sites are located within a reasonable distance of their original
location. All drill and/or core holes on all the drill sites outside of the active West Pit mine limits
(a total of 14) have been sealed and/or plugged using the method described in the NOI. No
further activity is planned for these sites.
Any drill hole site in Section 16 was not reclaimed since the Section 16 surface mine has not
been reclaimed at this time. The remainder of the `WP' drill sites (8), in Sections 4, 8, and 17,
have been reclaimed and topsoil replaced. These sites have been reseeded.
LOWER WILSON (LW) DRILL SITES
All 17 `LW -05' drill sites, located south and west of the West Pit, were completed. The
respective drill and/or core holes on the drill sites have been sealed and/or plugged using the
method described in the NOI. No further activity is planned for these sites.
Drill site LW -05 -17 was renamed MW- 05 -03, since it was planned as a shallow monitoring well.
The notice of intent to drill a monitoring hole and the subsequent monitoring hole completion
report have been filed with the Division of Water Resources for this site.
As of this date, all drill sites have been reclaimed and topsoil replaced. These sites have been
reseeded.
N: \CCC_ENG \LAM \GEOMODEL \Geomd12005\DMG Repms \AddmdumFina118odayrptfm05.doe
