• A mbdification to the NPDES permit issued for the Mt. Gunnison
mine to allow for the discharge of water from the ~aydown area
sedimentation pond to the North Fork of the Gunnison River will
be applied for prior to June 1 ,1984. A copy of the letter
transmitting the application as well as the modified permit will
be supplied to the CMLRD. Prior to approval of the modification,
water from the sedimentation pond will be diverted as necessary
through the ditch to Sedimentation Pond MB #2 as shown on
Attachment B.
RECLAMATION
Upon termination of mining activities the laydown area will be
reclaimed as part of the surface facilities and in accordance
with the reclamation plan described in Section 4.4 of the Mt.
Gunnison MRP.
• As shown in Figure 4.5.7.A to the original revision incorporating
the ten acres into the 5-year permit area and attached for your
reference as Attachment E a5 out 80% of the laydown area was
covered by the moist mixed shrub community and the remainder by
the dry meadow plant community. Revegetation success will be
appropriately measured by the reference areas for these two plant
communities.
BONDING
Approximately 5.5 acres of land will be disturbed for this
activity. Revegetation costs were determined based upon the
calculations and assumptions used in Table 4.8.1.A (revised
March, 1984) of the Mt. Gunnison MRP, except that topsoil
replacement costs were based upon the hourly rental cost of a D8
bulldozer which would be used to redistribute the topsoil onto
the disturbed laydown area.
