• CONSTRUCTION
Prior to disturbance of the area, all vegetation will be removed
using appropriate equipment. Topsoil will be removed and stock-
piled at the east end of the laydown area. To stabilize the
stockpile, the topsoil will be seeded using the permanent seed
mix described in Table 4.4.S.A. of the Mt. Gunnison Mining and
Reclamation Plan (MRP). The topsoil will be used to reclaim the
area following completion of mining activities.
HYDROLOGIC PROTECTION
The diversion of undisturbed runoff away from the disturbed area
will be accomplished with the following measures:
1. A water bar across the U.S. Steel road at the location
• shown on Attachment B and a ditch from the water bar to
~- the drainage ditch for Highway 133 will be constructed.
2. An inslope ditch along the U.S. Steel road below the
water bar will be constructed to divert undisturbed
runoff from upslope Area A around the disturbed area and
into the drainage ditch for Highway 133 as shown in
Attachment 6.
Sediment control for the laydown area will consist of on-site
drainage designed to accomodate the peak discharge from a
10 year, 24 hour event with non-erosive velocities. In addition,
a sedimentation pond will be constructed at the northwest corner
of the laydown area designed to contain runoff from the disturbed
area from a 10 year, 24 hour event. Design specifications are
given in Attachments C and D to this revision.
