• lines, and refuse disposal areas located in Sec. 22, 23, 26, and 27,
T3N., R101W. In addition, the county road connecting State Road 64
and U.S. Highway 40 will be relocated from State Road 64 to a point
in NW'Z, Sec. 11, T2N., R101W., (see Map 11), and a water supply pipe-
line will be constructed from an alluvial well field to the portal
area.
The West Portal with its associated conveyor lines and access roads
is located adjacent to the bottom of Scullion Gulch. The West Portal
area will include a processing plant and will cover approximately 65
acres in Scullion Gulch. (see Section III. B- Surface Facilities).
• The refuse disposal areas and associated access road, ultimately
several hundred acres disturbance, are to be located in both the
Scullion Gulch and Red Wash basins. The only areas to be affected
consist of upland areas, overlain chiefly by colluvium. By definition,
these areas are not considered alluvial valley floors. Adjacent ephemeral
stream channels are narrow and steep, thus these surface facilities will
not be considered as occupying an alluvial valley floor.
The relocated portion of the county road and the potential water supply
pipeline will travel along a portion of the White River alluvium. Because
this area qualifies as an alluvial valley floor, the effects of the
Deserado Mine on the valley floor will be noted in greater detail.
• 4/81 II.D-3
