a
Conlon CMLRB 112 Perntit Application
Ague Stone Systems, Inc.
The exact amounts of topsoil expected from the sandstone quarry are
discussed in exhibit D. Any salvaged topsoil will be used to surface the
stormwater berms. Any excess topsoil will be taken to the temporary topsoil
stockpile in the gravel area. Any topsoil deficiencies for the sandstone
stormwater berm will be taken from the same latter source.
10. Your plan includes a sediment pond at the Sandstone Quarry. Please show this
pond on your Mining Plan Map and provide the same information as requested in
item 4 above. Provide drawings to show how your sediment pond will discharge
through a check dam or straw bales.
The sediment pond at the sandstone quarry is now shown on the Mining Base
Map. The answer to 4 is the same as here.
1 ] . In your section 1.4, paragraph 2, you make the statement that, "For future
reclamation by the operator, landowner, or another party, an appropriate amount
of topsoil will be left in a noticeable, shaped, and seeded stockpile within 50 feet
of mineral stockpiles remaining after final reclamation." There should be no
mineral stockpiles remaining after reclamation and there should definitely be not
topsoil stockpiles remaining after reclamation. All mineral stockpiles should be
removed from the permit azea or used in reclamation. All available topsoil should
be used in reclamation. Please explain your statement.
There is no explanation. The statement was in error. All topsoil will be used
in reclamation and there will be no topsoil stockpile remaining after
reclamation.
12. Your next sentence, same paragraph, says that "oversized aggregate not sold,
crushed or used elsewhere on the project will be utilized as erosion protection
materials." Please explain this statement. Where and how do you propose to use
it? What is the approximate size of the oversized aggregate? Unless the material
is needed to return the site to pasture land, it is probably best if it is buried in a _
backfill prior to final reclamation.
This is another incorrect statement. Oversized material as rip rap will be
used to stabilize the crossing sides and approach ways but will be used as a
product, loaded and removed from the project and sold.
13. Your next sentence, same paragraph states, "Fines will be incorporated into fills
or will be utilized as plant growth media." Fines alone, unless it is absolutely the
only material available, should not be used as plant growth media. Crusher fines,
6
