Furthermore, no sensitive speces were
observed within the area. Plates V7 - V9 provide photographic documentation of this area at the time of
'sampling.
3.3.1 Ground Cover
Review of Tables V2 and V6 and Chart VS indicates that the average vegetation cover of this mixed
shrubland community was 54.39%. Litter and rock provided an average of 32.94% and 1.06% of the
ground cover, respectively, while bare ground exposure averaged 11.61%. The four dominant plant
species were GambePs oak, arrowieaf balsamroot, serviceberry, and snowberry with 13.8%, 11.0%,
8.6%, and 5.3% of the ground cover, respectively. Perennial plants contributed 99.5% of the total plant
cover (54.11% average cover) while annual speces and noxious weeds contributed 0.5% and 0% of the
composition, respectively. Perusal of Table V3 indicates that a total of seven speces contributed greater
than 3% relative cover. Two of these species were perennial grasses, one was a perennial fort, and the •
remaining four speces were shrubs.
3.3.2 Produ~on
Review of Tables V8 and Vll indicates the average herbaceous production of this area in 2003 was
602.8 pounds per acre, oven-dry weght Over 99 percent (601.4 pourxis per aae) of the total
herbaceous production is attributable to perennials, with grasses contributing 337.3 lbs./acre and forts
providing 264.1 lbs./acre. Less than one percent (1.3 pounds per acre) of the total production is
attributable to annuals, with annual grasses contributing 0 lbs./aQe and annual forts providing 1.3
lbs./acre.
3.4 ]unioer Woodland -Reference Area
This reference area is located on a gentle, southeast-facing sbpe directly west of the bw~ faalilies
area (See Map Vl). As indipted on Table Vl, a total of 23 plant spedes were found within this
community type, none of whicti are ctassified as noxious weeds. No sensitive sped were observed
within the area. Plates V10 - V11 provide photographic documentation of this area at the time of •
sampling.
Goat CaEEK Assoa~hs, inc. Page 10 Exhitit s - Bowie wrroA Vegemtl°n Survey
