• 3.1.2 Production
Review of Tables V8 and V9 indicates that the average herbaceous production of this area in 2003
was 273.5 pounds per acre, oven-dry weight. Thirty-seven percent (101.5 pounds per acre) of the total
herbaceous production is attributable to perennials, with grasses contributing 16.8 lbs./acre and (orbs
providing 84.6 ibs./acre. Sixty-three percent (172.0 pounds per acre) of the total production is
attributable to annuals, with :grasses contributing 1.6 lbs./acre and forbs providing 170.4 lbs./acre.
3.2 ]unioer Woodland -WRDA
The community type comprises 28.0 acres (56.8%) of the vegetation study area (See Map Vl). As
indicated on Table Vl, a total of 37 plant species were found within this community type, one of
which is classified as a noxious weed. No sensitive species were observed within the area. Plates V4
through V6 provide photographic documentation of this community at the time of sampling.
3.2.1 Ground Cover
• Review of Tables V2 and VS and Chart Vi indicates that the average vegetation cover of the juniper
woodland community was 17.20%. Litter and rock provided an average of 32.92% and 12.92% of the
ground cover, respectively, while bare ground exposure averaged 36.96%. The three dominant plant
species were prairie peppenveed, Gambel's oak, and snowberry with 3.6%, 3.5%, and 3.3% of the
ground cover, respectively. Perennial plants (excluding noxious weeds) contributed 67% of the total
plant cover (11.52% average cover) while annual species and noxious weeds contributed 32.6% and
0.4% of the composition, respectively. Perusal of Table V3 indicates that a total of 8 species contributed
at least 3% relative cover. Five of those species were shrubs and the remaining three taxa were annual
forbs or grasses.
3.2.2 Production
Review of Tables V8 and VSO indicates that the average herbaceous production of this area in 2003
was 81.5 pounds per acre, oven-dry weight. Forty-eight percent (39.8 pounds per acre) of the total
herbaceous production is attributable to perennials, with grasses contributing 5.0 lbs./acre and forbs
providing 34.8 lbs./acre. Fifty-one percent (41.7 pounds per acre) of the total production is attributable
• to annuals, with grasses contributing 0.3 lbs./acre and forbs providing 41.4 lbs./acre.
CEDAR CREEK ASSOCIATES, Inc.
