Bedding: <br />Dnless o[tierwise indicated, provide bedding in conformance with <br />applicable recommendations in the above standard. <br />E. Pipe Laying: <br />Thoroughly inspect and fit pipes before lowering into trenches. <br />Lay Lines to uniform grade between elevations indicated or at <br />grade specified. Use engineer's level for reestablishing grades <br />and slopes. Use grade boards, grade cord, plumb bob and measur- <br />ing stick to transfer grades from bench marks [o flow line of <br />pipe. t4ake all joints in conformance with recommendations of <br />manufacturer and as further specified below. <br />For corrugated metal pipe - A.I.S. I. }landbook. <br />For corrugated pipe, prior to applying joint bard, coat pipe <br />ends and band with bituminous material as recommended by <br />manufacturer. After joint is completed, coat band and bolls <br />with same bituminous material. <br />Request instructions before installing any work on ground provid- <br />ing questionable support. Provide firm bed for barrel of pipe. <br />Pipe must not rest 'on joint when brought to grade. Set each <br />length to grade and line before malting joint. <br />Keep water out of pipes un[iL joints have heen made. Close all <br />open ends of piping during construction Co prevent earth entering <br />lines. Clean surfaces of joints and interior of all pipe before <br />making joints. <br /> <br />5-12 <br />
