Banks and Gesso, LLC
2 -Explanation of Section 26.4
The aggregate processing equipment associated with the proposed
mining operation consists of large, heavy portable screens,
conveyors and two crushers. The portable asphalt and concrete
plants are heavy and self-contained structures. The equipment will be
located in the south-central portion of the site west of the Lupton
Bottom Ditch, for the predominance of the time period that the
operation is active. The asphalt and concrete batch plants will be
located nearby.
The plant site will be stripped of existing topsoil, prior to placement of
sand and gravel pit run. This material provides the stability required
in supporting the process equipment, customer trucks, and allows
efficient operations throughout the year.
26.4.2 Not applicable. The processing equipment will be located
in an area in the flood plain.
26.4.3 Not applicable. Portable processing equipment is heavy
enough to resist movement and would receive only minor
damage by flood waters.
26.4.4 No new or replacement wells will be used for domestic
water. Bottled water will be used for on-site personnel for
all operations.
26.4.5 Septic system for office-scale house will be designed in
accordance with Weld County requirements for leach
fields in a floodplain.
26.4.6 Plant equipment will have negligible volumes and
restrictions to flood waters, therefore no significant
increases to floodwater levels are anticipated.
26.4.7 The elevation of the plant site area is approximately 4874
feet. The 100-year floodwater elevation, according to data
in the Corps of Engineer's Special Flood Hazard
Information Report for the South Platte River is at an
elevation of approximately 4875 feet near the property.
Therefore flooding of approximately one foot of depth is
anticipated. Encroachments of the plant will occur, but
should only cause insignificant increases in the floodwater
elevations.
Fort Lupton Sand and Gravel Mine.FHDP 4 99024.WD
L.G.
