<br />Ms. Christina Kamnikaz <br />Division of Minerals and Geology <br />October 11, 1996 <br />Page 3 <br />In areas where broadcasting is necessary, the seed quantity will be doubled to 30 Ibs/acre. <br />Periodically the operator will consult with the Soil Conservation Service for recommendations of any <br />necessary fertilizer. <br />The sizes of trees and shrubs in the reclamation are as follows: <br />• Deciduous trees at 1-1/2 inch cal. <br />• 60% of coniferous trees at 6 foot height <br />• 40% of coniferous trees at 8 foot height <br />• 50% of shrubs at one gallon <br />• 50% at shrubs at five gallon <br />5) Attached is a copy of the S[ormwater Management Plan developed as a part of the requirements for the <br />S[ormwater Dischazge Permit application to the Colorado Department of Public Health and <br />Environment. This document addresses the storage and containment concerns for all aspects of the <br />mining operation. Included is information regarding the asphalt and concrete batch plants. <br />D) Exhibit G -Water Information <br />Attached to this letter is a copy of the Stormwater Management Plan for Maryland Creek Ranch as <br />submitted to the Colorado Water Quality Control Commission. This document will answer all your <br />questions regarding setup control, runoff, and potential pollution. <br />1)a) Maryland Creek basin has a 100 year flow of 269 cfs. Vendette Creek basin has a 100 yeaz flow of 96 <br />cfs. These flows are conveyed under Stale Highway 9 by three, 48 inch corrugated metal pipes (CMPs). <br />Whetstone Creek basin a 100 yeaz flow of 66 cfs and is conveyed under State Highway 9 by a 36 inch <br />CMP. After crossing under State Highway 9, all flows eventually end up in the Blue River. The <br />capacity of the three, 48 inch CMPs was calculated to be 388 cfs and the capacity of the 36 inch CMP is <br />87 cfs. <br />The capacity of the ditch along State Highway 9 is approximately 107 cfs assuming a ditch cross section <br />of a three foot bottom width, three foot depth of flow, and a channel slope of 0.33%. The capacity of the <br />McKay Ditch is approximately 54 cfs assuming a two foot bottom width, three foot depth of flow, and a <br />channel slope of 0.33%. <br />b) The owner of the ditch along State Highway 9 is the State Highway Department and the owner of the <br />McKay Ditch is solely L.G. Everist, Inc. The McKay Ditch ends on the Maryland Creek Ranch <br />property. <br />c) The size of the 100 year, 24 hour storm event is three inches per hour and is taken from the NOAA Atlas <br />II (exhibit enclosed). <br />
