• 2-34
2.2.3 Storage and Stockpile Sites
The operation will have minor storage systems for fuel (diesel), and a warehouse
trailer for non-flammable and non-explosive products. Miscellaneous grease and oils
will be stored adjacent to the warehouse building with bulk oils and fuels stored away
from the building as shown on Figures 2.2-2 and 2.2-6.
Coal extracted underground will be conveyed to a crushing and screening plant
located immediately outby the belt entry. The sized coal will then be conveyed to a
coal stockpile by a 120-foot long radial stacking belt. Coal from the stockpile will be
loaded into on-highway trucks by front end loader(s). Alternatively, the coal may
bypass the screen and crusher and be placed, unsized, in the coal stockpile. The coal
stockpile will be isolated from all surface water run-off as described in Section 2.4.1
and maintained at a minimum volume. The coal stockpile will be limited in capacity to
20,000 tons.
Topsoil will be stockpiled as shown on Figure 2.2-2 and described in Section
2.3.4. A rip-rap stockpile and soi! stockpile are located west of the topsoil stockpile as
• shown on Figure 2.2-2. This stockpile will be known as the construction material
stockpile. The construction material stockpile is debris from cleaning ponds and
ditches and general site clean-up. The rock from this stockpile may be periodically
utilized to stabilize erosion features. The soil from this stockpile may be utilized for
construction of the new mine entrance road (TR-05) or other DMG approved
construction. activities. Material from this stockpile may also be utilized during the final
reclamation process. The footprint of this stockpile will not be enlarged without DMG
approval.
In the footprint of the construction material stockpile, topsoil was stripped to a
depth of 12-inches and placed in the topsoil stockpile. The resulting depression along
with a perimeter ditch and sediment trap are used to retain the run-oft from the
construction material stockpile. Calculations demonstrating these controls will retain
run-off from a 25 year 24 hour event within the area (SAE-3) are contained in Appendix
M. The topsoil stockpile and construction material stockpiles will be seeded with the
temporary revegetation seed mix in the fall of each year they are disturbed. No
seeding will be necessary if the piles are not disturbed during the year.
• M`Clane
Volume 1
12/99
