2 - 33
McCLANE TO MUNGER ROAD
,Grand Valley will be constructing an access -haul road from McClane Canyon mine to the
central facilities area of the Munger Canyon Mine. The alignment and profile of the road are
shown on Fgure 2.2.4. The southern portion of the road is permitted in the central facilities
revision to the Munger Canyon permit. The northern portion of the road will be within the
McClane Canyon permit area and will be addressed in this application. The road design
permitted with the Munger Canyon Mine includes additional area for a conveyor. At this time
Grand Valley proposes to exclude this feature from the design within the McClane Permit area.
Additional studies and design must be accomplished to justify this feature and address any
associated impacts. Grand Valley anticipates that until a conveyor is constructed haul trucks will
be used to transfer the coal from the portal at McClane to the coal preparation area at the mouth
• of Munger Canyon.
The road will be designed to the specifications shown above and will be approximately 700
feet long. About 1,700 cubic yards of topsoil are projected to be salvaged and stockpiled in
accordance Section 2.3. Section 2.4 and Appendix M address hydrologic considerations.
Additional excavation from the area after topsoil is salvaged amounts to 1,247 cubic yards of
material. This excess material will be used in the fill sections of the lower portion of the road.
5~,~~ ~S ~
e ,-, ,
G~cv
•
M~ Volume 1 4-29-96
