They are fair to well <br />drained with moderate permeability. <br />The aspect is north in this type and slopes are mild, <br />averaging 5 to 15~• <br />Big sagebrush is the dominant species and the understory <br />is almost exclusively cheatgrass. Some western wheatgrass <br />~ (Ac3roE~ron smithii), green needlegrass and alfalfa <br />(Medicago sativa) occur interspersed in the big sagebrush <br />r understory. <br />I-3.2 Disturbed Land <br />At present, land disturbed for drill holes, exploration <br />L- pads and holding ponds account for about 3~ oY the strip <br />~ mine study area (Table 1).
