Community Outreach Activities <br />Community Outreach at the Smuggler Mountain Superfund Site included the following: <br />involving the Site residenu in the design and implementation of the Site remedy; providing timely <br />information to the community about the Superfund process; maintaining communications with <br />the community, and providing an opportunity for residents and officials to voice their concerns. <br />Tasks performed include monitoring community concerns, prepazation of fact sheets and other <br />information releases, coordination of coatrnuniry meetings and providing communication between <br />EPA and the community. Significant community outreach efforts were invested in the Aspen <br />community. <br />T!te result of EPA's outreach efforts led to the periodic revision of the remedy to meet <br />communiy needs and interests. <br />IIT. Demonstration of Cleanup Activity QA/QC. <br />A. OUl <br />All remedial activities for OUl have been completed. . <br />Remedial Action at OUl was performed in accordance with plans and specifications <br />approved by EPA. Performance was observed by onsite inspection by the EPA RPIv1; Brian <br />Pinkowski. EPA used in-house resources for oversite due to the simplicity and short duration of <br />the work. The methods and procedures used were consistent with planned remedial action <br />objective: and performance standards. The QA/QC program used throughout the RA was <br />rigorous and in conformance with EPA and state standazds; therefore, EPA and the State <br />determined that all work was accurate to the degree needed to assure satisfactory execution of the <br />RA, and consistent with the ROD and RD plans and specifications. <br />All site construction under Superfund has been completed and inspected by the EPA <br />Project Manager, Brian J. Pinkowski. The certification of completion was documented by letter <br />from Mr. Pinkowski to Mr. Tom Dunlop, City/County Health Director, on September 18, 1996. <br />B. OU2 Construction <br />All relavent remedial activities have also been completed for OU2. <br />1 ~ :e methods and procedures used for construction activities at OU2 are considered <br />consistent with planned removal objectives and performance standards.
