<br />6.2.(3) Ground Water <br />The following intormation is supplied in response to S.B. 181 <br />and this. rule which became effective September 1, 1553. <br />It is stated several times in this. application that this will <br />be a dry pit operation with no effect on water rights or hy- <br />drology. To that is now added ".ground water". The <br />applicant's. operation plan should eliminate the possibility <br />of ground water contamination. (c11i1 in this section <br />states: "Tt,ere will be no to:•:ic material: involved that could <br />be leached". There will be no fuel storage on ~;ite or other <br />"contaminants" that would affect underground water. NeitFier <br />will there be any chemicals or acid producing substances on <br />site. The predominant substance will be clay, which i=: basi- <br />cally inert. <br />The applicant believes that they will be in compliance with <br />the laws, rules and regulation. affecting both surface and <br />underground water. <br />6.3 Wildlife. <br />ll) Safety and protection of wildlife with special attention <br />to critical periods in the life cycle of those species which <br />require special consideration. <br />No special safety or protection methods are proposed in tFie <br />D.O.W. report except for avoidance or setback from _ wetland <br />and riparian habitat.. The applicant does commit to this. <br />Neither does the D.O.W. report for the species li:ated suggest <br />critical periods in their life cycle. that will be affected <br />by this operation. <br />The surrounding range land would indicate that there i~; no <br />shortage of this type of habitat in tYie area. <br />I~1 Habitat management is not proposed a" part of the range- <br />land reclamation plan submitted for this operation, er.cept <br />for the small riparian and wetland habitat~• in the SW1/4 of <br />Section 9. The D.O.W. reports. that these habitats are uncom <br />mon in eastern EI Paso County and provide valuable habita <br />for numerous wildlife species.
