(2) There is no woody vegetation on tY~e affected area to be
put to a beneficial use.
(3) Topsoil will be stockpiled on the pit perimeters and
will be of a low configuration to prevent erosion. These
stockpiles will not be disturbed by the ongoing mining op-
eration.
14) Topsoil will not be rehandled until it is replaced on
the regraded areas in the reclamation ptias.e.
(5) Backslopes and the pit floor will be deep-disked_ before
replacement of topsoil to help as~-.ure the stability of the
replaced topsoil.
(6) The soil in the affected area are primarily Kutch Clay
loam with lesser amounts of Louviers Cobbly Clay Loam and
Razor-Midway Complex., which should sustain an adequate veg-
etative cover in reclamation. There are no otF~er more
suitable materials on site for sustaining vegetation.
(7) Growing media (topsoil) will be replaced in a~j even a
manner as possible at an average depth of 4" - 7". 40#/A
~availabll N & P will be applied as. per SCS recommendations.
(8) There will be no vegetative piles to be removed or uti-
li~ed in reclamation.
6.5 Revegetation.
ll) The proposed SCS recommended seed mix for revegetation
has been shown to e;'.tablish a diverse, effective and
long-lasting vegetative cover for similar operation in this
area. It has proven to be capable of self-revegetation with-
out continued dependence on irrigation or fertilizer. ]t
will be equal or superior to the natural vegetation of the
adjacent rangeland.
(~) Forest planting is not the landowner':s choice of recla-
mation. Rangeland has been chosen to be consistent with the
subject and adjacent properties.
l3) The owner's choice of reclamation is rangeland as stated
above. Slopes will be commensurate with this u~~e. The 3H:1V
backslopes will not be too steep to be tra~f~~versed by live-
stock or farm equipment. The reclaimed area will be reseeded
by using an acceptable grass drill.
(4) After reviewing all the physical and environmental fac-
tors that can affect ~-uccessful revegetation, the plan
proposed by the applicant provides for the greatest probabil-
ity of success. Grazing will be restricted from reclaimed
areas until release has been secured from the Board.
U
)
~,.. ~
r.~c~;~-
_,
