4. The concentration of oil and grease at outfall 003 on <br />March 1, 1988 exceeds the maximum concentration allowed by the permit <br />of 10 mg/1. based on a single, grab sample. <br />The Division hereby amends the Cease and Desist and Clean-Lip Order to <br />add .the following paragraphs: <br />8. Meet the following conditions for outfalls 002 and 003: <br />a. beRSnninR as soon as the solids deposited in pond 003 have <br />been removed, >ayoming Fuel may discharge their minewater through <br />outfall 003. (Minewater will be discharged from outfall 002 <br />concurrently). <br />b. During the time period when minewater is being discharged at <br />003, monitoring shall be conducted for both 002 and 003 <br />according to the following schedule: <br />Oil/grease, visual <br />Total susnended solids <br />Total iron <br />Flow <br />pH <br />Dissolved aluminum <br />-five times per week <br />-five times per week <br />-once per week <br />-five times per week <br />-five times per week <br />-two times per week when <br />any aluminum soluble <br />flocculant is in use <br />c. Beginning with the onset of discharge from pond 003 and <br />lasting for two weeks thereafter, the discharge from 003 shall <br />be subiect to the same limitations as outfall 002, as defined in <br />the existing permit. This two week period of discharge of <br />minewater without any chemical addition is hereafter referred to <br />as Phase I. <br />d. If the monitoring results for total susnended solids l"TSS") <br />demonstrate an inability to comply with the permitted limits <br />during Phase I above, then limits for TSS will be suspended <br />until such time that approval for chemical treatment is Riven by <br />the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division ("MIRD"), or AuRUSt <br />15, 1988, whichever comes sooner.
