PRO C ONSULTING EJCPERIENCE Continued
Sonoma County Landfill Expansion Project- 1998, Investigated and reported on potential rock blasting
impacts on site facilities, neighboring property, people and farm animals. Investigations included analysis of
blast-induced ground motion and ainoverpressure impacts on; buried feachate artd methane gas piping
systems, stability of landfill slopes, quality and supply of water in area wells, residtntlal and agricultural
srttictvi•es, and deity cows. Specific blasting eonrrols, designed to prevent damage and mini, nize complaints
and claims, w•erc also ruommended. GEOTEK's findings and recommendations were incorporated in[o the
Sonoma County Environmental linpact Report.
Folsom Dam Air-Intake Tunnel Project - 1997, Developed blastinb and vibration control and monitoring
program for the consttvction of a tunnel excavated through concrete. Specially designed blasting rounds
were executed witi`rout darttaging critical dam structures. Blasts occurred very near to the dam's radial gates,
trunnion . ttchors, and other impottanc dam facilities. Wart: was performed for Dillingham International and
the US 6urceu of Reclamation, the project contractor and owner, respcetively.
Boston hletropoliten Water District M17 F.TRO-WEST tunnel project - 1997. Afro- dtc plan wax approved by the California Stnndnrdo Aeview Board, the mac.,azino facility
was built and the blresring work was completed without incident. Public and worker safety was _4reerly
improved by this plan, due to seduced cxglosivc vansportation on public sttcets and on the lob. lvloreover,
the owner has estimated that over 510,000,000 of increased construction cosu were avoided by preventing
months of construction delays that otlien+•ise would have resulted from continuous explosive handling for
just-in-time delivn•ies for blasting nn all chifls. Ci F.OTF.K also provided specialized training and blasting
consulting services to JMA (Jacobs Engineering Group, Nlott McDonald Hn[ch, and ACG Environments
Joint Venture ~;onstruction Manager).
H-3 Highway Tunnels, Halaw•a Valley, Hawaii -- April 1991 [0 93.
