3 Right Gateroad Relocation and 2 Right Sump-In Addition (MR 99-163)
TCC will relocate the 3 Right gateroad to the south by approximately 200 feet. The location of the gateroad is
shown on Map 23, Mine Plan. The relocation and driving of the gateroad does not have any surface impacts due to
the limited extraction associated with this driveage. The 2 Right Gateroad will be Bumped in approximately 700
feet to allow for underground construction activities. Based upon the 700 feet length, 20' wide entries and 4
crosscuts, approximately 1.2 acres is added to the affected acreage classification. TCC does not anticipate any
surface disturbance resulting from this activity due to the limited extraction associated with it.
Face Extension -Panels 2 & 3 Right, & Development of Gateroads 11 & 12 Right
TCC will widen the face of longwall panels 2 and 3 Right to 1000 feet from its existing 850' face. The face
extension will allow for the more efficient mining of the remaining reserves in the Eastern Mining District.
The face extension will result in additional reserves being extracted form federal coal lease COC-54608. The
resource recovery and protection plan reflects the increased tonnage resulting from the extension.
The extension results in undermining and subsiding more of Middle Creek. The new panel layout results in the
powerlines being located differently within [he panels. The impacts to the creek and powerlines are discussed in
more detail in following paragraphs.
in reference to the I1 and 12 gateroads, TCC plans to mine them in late 1999 and 2000. The locations of these
gateroads are shown on Map 23. Associated with mining these gateroads, TCC will also drive the Northwest Mains
approximately 225 feet to the north of the 13 Right Gateroad. The entries from the east end of the 11 Right
Gateroad will be driven to connect with the existing EMD ventilation fan. Finally, an additional set of the entries
may be driven from 1 I Right Gateroad to facilitate moving the longwall equipment from the 2 Right Panel to the 12
• Right Panel. ]t should be noted that the ventilation tie and additional set of entries are shown within a "blocked
area". This also applies to the area between the fault and the northwest mains, which has been blocked out to show
these mains may move in that block. The number of entries will remain the same but the final location of them may
change within the block. This is to allow operational Flexibility in the event of encountering unknown advance
mining or geological conditions.
The same concept applies to the west end of the panel where the mains and beginning of I1 and 12 Right are
shown. The entries may be moved around so long as they are within the boundary of the 12 Right longwall panel.
It is not anticipated this will occur but it does provide operational flexibility, in the event of encountering adverse
conditions.
Northwest Mains Reorientation fMR 00-167)
TCC will be reorienting the Northwest Mains to the East in order to improve the pillar stability. The initial mining
saw the entry being driven parallel to the coal's cleat. This is not a stable configuration and results in excessive
pillar sloughage. The reorientation of these mains to the east results in driving the entries at an angle to the cleat,
which increases pillar stability. Reorientation of the mains also results in mining additional federal coal (lease CO-
54608) with a corresponding decrease in adjacent fee coal. The mining adds approximately 6 acres of federal coal
into the mine area. The location of these mains is shown on Map 23, Mine Plan.
Also associated with this revision is widening of the approximate beginning 1000 feet of the 1 I right gateroad. The
number of entries remains the same; only the pillar width of the southern entry is increased. This area is shown on
Map 23.
• ~~
~ ~~~~
C ~`'~
PR 99-OS 2.05-17.1
0~`'
3/28/00
