As shown on Map 23, 10 Right and 9 Right are the northern most gateroad and panel, respectively. The gateroads
. and panels will be mined in a southerly direction, which will allow for gravity drainage away from the panel.
Panels 8 Right and 9 Right, which are in this five year permit term, will result in the undermining of Routt County
Road 33, power lines, telephone lines, Foidel and Middle Creeks, and the Southern Pacific railroad spur servicing
the mine. In reference to the 9 Right panel, it will be approximately ]6,300 feet in length. The undermining of
these structures/features will be discussed in more detail in a following section. During the subsequent five-year
permit term, mining will occur beneath private structures, and those structures are shown on Map 23B, Structures
and Renewable Resource.
EMD (Panels 2 Right through 6 Right) (PR 97-04)
The mining that is to occur in the remainder of the Eastern Mining District is located in areas previously discussed
in Permit Revision 93-03. The area to be mined in this five-year permit term is shown on Map 23, Mine Plan. The
five-year area is readily identified by the color-coding used in creating the map. The mining layout, i.e. panel
widths, gateroad dimensions, and cross-cuts, will be the same as provided in PR 93-03, except that the dimensions
may vary based upon mining conditions encountered in the new area, and sumps and ventilation dog legs
established as needed. Also, the barrier width or location between entries in the northeast may vary based upon
mining or geologic constraints.
During the five-year term, longwall mining will be conducted under County Road 33, powerlines, Foidel, and
Middle Creek, UP Railroad (Energy Spur), residences, owned by the Ashleys. A more detailed discussion of
undermining these structures will be presented in a later section.
Southeast Submains Extension, 3 Right Gateroad Alternate location and Northeast Submains Reorientation
• (MR 99-162)
TCC will extend the Southeast Submains approximately 300 feet to the southeast [o determine if the Wadge seam
parting is present in that area. Also, a 300' stub-in will be driven off of the extension to facilitate mining in this
area. The R2P2 has been modified to reFlect this minor modification to the mine plan and is included in
confidential Exhibit 9c..
The 3 Right Gateroad altemate location is as shown in the hatched area immediately south of its present location on
Map 23. This is shown as an alternate location in the event that the extension mining demonstrates the parting
doesn't exist and that the panel layout can be modified. If this occurs, TCC will submit a revision detailing the new
panel layout. This option will give [he opportunity to mine the 3 Right Gateroad as approved in PR-04 or mine the
first 750 feet in its altemate location.
The Northeast Submain reorientation is being done to improve mining efficiency of the Submains. The general
layout of the Submains is shown on Map 23. TCC may add additional sump, ventilation dog legs and make the
other minor adjustment to the area to be mined so long as it is within the are defined (i.e. shaded in) on Map 23.
/ TCC will be installing a set of rock rooms to store rock generated from crossing the fault in the Northeast Mains.
The location of the rock rooms is shown on figure 161. The rock rooms are made up of entries approximately 200
feet in length and cross-cuts of I50 feet. This results in mining an area approximately 0.2 acres in size.
The fault that TCC is crossing is varying more than anticipated and this required driving an additional entry off of
the north comer of the northern rock rooms. The location of the additional entry is shown on Figure 16J. The
additional entry will be approximately 180 long and 20' wide. The entry may be used for storing additional
underground development waste and as a sump. The affected area associated with the driveage is approximately
.0.08 acres.
APPROVED JUN 2 S 2000
o~~
PR 99-OS 2.05-17 3/28/00
