i • <br />EXHIBIT D <br />A portable wash plant will brought in periodically to remove fines from material to be <br />used in producing concrete. It will be located where most convenient within the permit <br />area, as necessity and convenience dictate. However, it is likely to be used in the same <br />manner and same location as with the existing operation. The wash out area is located on <br />Exhibit I, Soils and Water Features Map, labeled as "truck wash". <br />A portable crusher plant will be brought on-site a few months of each year to process and <br />sort the sand and gravel. This will be located where most convenient, either on high <br />ground or in the bottom of the pit. <br />Section 3 -Water Diversions and Impoundments <br />Water will be diverted from existing reservoirs for wash plant, batch plant, and dust <br />control operations. This will be accomplished by simple pumping techniques and held in <br />water trucks or tanks, using as needed. Runoff and wash water will be returned to the <br />existing reservoirs or pumped into the Big Thompson River, subject to all considerations <br />and terms of an NPDES permit to be acquired prior to start of mining activities. <br />Dewatering operations will divert water from its natural location into existing reservoirs <br />or the Big Thompson River. This will not create any adverse impacts; the historic <br />destination of these waters is the Big Thompson River. <br />Section 4 -Nature of Deposits and Overburden <br />Bores were drilled on either side of St. Louis Avenue by Earth Engineering Consultants <br />of Fort Collins. The Reichert property is undisturbed in the area to be mined. Topsoil is <br />at an average depth of 6 inches. The average thickness of overburden in this area is 6.75 <br />feet. The average thickness of the sand and gravel resource layer is 12 feet on this side. <br />The nature of the stratum immediately beneath this layer is weathered claystone. <br />The Flatiron property has a long history of disturbance, mining and industrial use. No <br />topsoil is present on this side. The average overburden thickness in the area to be mined <br />is 2.08 feet. The average thickness of the sand and gravel layer is 16.25 feet. The <br />stratum beneath this layer is comprised of claystone. <br />Sand and gravel mined from the areas collectively known as the Loveland Pit will be <br />used as aggregate for the production of Portland cement concrete and asphaltic concrete. <br />The consumer use of these materials include, but are not limited to roadway, parking <br />area, structures, sidewalk, bike path and trail construction. Sand and gravel will be sold <br />to private consumers and used as base course for road construction. <br />No incidental products are expected to be mined or extracted from the proposed <br />operation. <br />
