January 26, 1998
Mr. Calvin N. Joyner
Area Manager
Bureau of Land Management
Federal Building
701 Camino Del Rio
Durango, CO 81301
Dear Mr. Joyner:

Re: Stone Gravel Pit
On December 3, 1997 Wallace Erickson of DMG conducted a minerals program
inspection report with regard to the 158.8 acres known as the Stone Gravel Pit.
On December 4, 1997 I wrote a letter to Wally stating that I was still somewhat
confused as to the total excavations conducted (see attached letter).
As you can see from Mr. Erickson's letter dated December 5, 1997 (attached)
his observations continually put the burden of defining my questions in the
hands of the Bureau of Land Management. Therefore, I would appreciate the
following questions answered.
1. Have at least four test pits and possibly five test pits for exploration
purposes been dug on top of cultural site 5MT2020?
2. Was a blade dropped and quite a few new roads cut in a random fashion?
Were some of these roads cut across the top of cultural site 5MT2020?
3. Were most of the test trenches about 12' (twelve feet) deep and 10' (ten feet)
long?
4. Did Mr. Stone file a Notice of Intent to conduct exploration prior to digging
these test trenches? If so, is there a copy of this document filed with your
office?
5. Isn't it true that there are at least 15 (fifteen) and possibly 17(seventeen)
test trenches dug on the 158.8 acres?
6. Did Mr. Stone file a Notice of Completion with the Board and if so is there a
copy of this document filed with your office?
