• iii iiiiiiiiiiiu iii
January 26, 1998
JAN 2 9 1998
Mr. Mike Long
State Director
Department of Minerals
And Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Mr. Long:
oElyC~.
F.
RECEIVED
Division of Minerals 8 Geolo9Y
Re: Stone Gravel Pit
Montezuma County, CO
M-97-089
I am enclosing a copy of a letter to Calvin Joyner, BLM, Durango, CO and
supporting documents. I would appreciate your reading these documents to
help us determine if Mr. Stone was in violation of a "Notice of Intent to perform
exploration."
I understand that the Boazd will make the decision with regard to the "Notice of
Intent". I would like to make sure that your department has the sufficient
information with regazd to the number of test trenches that were dug. Wallace
Erickson indicated in his minerals inspection report that there were only four
or possibly five test trenches.
I have walked the land and I have found at least 15 (fifteen) and possibly
17(seventeen) test trenches. This would greatly change the amount of square
footage that was disturbed during exploration. Also, a number of roads have
been cut when a blade was dropped. We have photographs to verify this and
would be willing to shaze them with the Board.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Sincerely,
~~~~
Susie Campbell Bell
P.
