Phase IV Weekly Summary No. 53 Page 2
Ames resumed construction of the Phase Na Primary Underdrain (PU) through the central portion of
Phase Na. Ames excavated trench and completed the tie-in of the Secondary Underdrain.
Ames continued to remove Drain Cover Fill (DCF) from the edge of Phase I along the Phase UPhase
Na tie-in in preparation for final grading.
Ames continued to receive 80-mil geomembrane in prepazation for Phase Na geomembrane
deployment.
POLYFLEX arrived on-site May 10~' and began deployment of 80-mil LLDPE geomembrane on May
17a' at 13:00. POLYFLEX deployed 80-mil single sided textured LLDPE geomembrane over an azea
of 107,100 sf during this reporting period. Geomembrane panel P-1 through P-32 were deployed,
seamed, and tested by POLYFLEX. Destructive seam samples DF-1 through DF-10 were marked for
testing.
Ames performed excavation remediation activities of known underground working UG-445 and UG-
446. Both of these workings were removed by slope recontouring.
Ames resumed SF blast drilling in the Phase Na at "D10 Hill" and blasted on May 9`" at 16:15.
Ames did not perform confirmation drilling in the Phase IVa area during this reporting period.
Phase IVb
Ames continued Structural Fill (SF) placement and compaction activities at the PSSA haul road, at the
9640 road between station 2+00 and 8+00, and at the westem perimeter berm. Structural Fill materials
were placed in horizontal lifts typically not exceeding 2 feet in loose thickness. A Caterpillar CS563C
roller provided compactive effort, while a Caterpillar water wagon provided moisture conditioning
when needed. Ames conducted slope recontouring activifies at the central portion of the temporary
diversion channel and in the PSSA sump area. Ames continued recontouring the Phase III ore slope on
the South side of the Phase N PSSA in preparation for Bedding Fill placement. Ames used Structural
Fill to backfill over remediated "Deep" working UG-247.
Ames continued to construct the Phase Nb PU through the central portion of the PSSA and working
West towazd Highway 67. Ames blasted and excavated the trench and placed geotextile, Underdrain
Fill (UF), and Select Structural Fill (SSF) for approximately 150 feet of PU. Ames completed
construction of the central and westem Phase Nb Secondary Underdrains (SU) as generally located on
the drawings.
Ames continued to remove Drain Cover Fill (DCF) from the edge of Phase III along the Phase III/Phase
Nb tie-in in prepazation for final grading.
Ames performed excavation remediation activities of known underground working UG-206. This
working was observed and verified to be a "Deep" as defined in the drawings and will be remediated
accordingly.
~~ rve s3 nns-~a m< Golder Associates Inc.
