Ames continued excavation of the anchor trench along the eastern
limit of Phase IVa in preparation for geomembrane deployment.
• Ames continued construction of the three (3) 42" CSP's for the VLF access road by placing
reinforcing steel and concrete for the headwall and wingwall structures. Ames placed approximately
4 cubic yazds of concrete into the headwall on July IOa', approximately 12 cubic yards of concrete
into the wingwall footings on July 12a', and approximately 6 cubic yards into the wingwalls on July
13~'.
Ames continued and completed construction of the Phase IVa Leak Detection Trench (LDT) by
excavating the final section of trench and placing the sump.
~i
I
Poly-Flex continued deployment of 80-mil LLDPE geomembrane in the Phase IVa azea. Poly-Flex
deployed 80-mil single-sided textured LLDPE geomembrane over an azea of 102,227 squaze feet in
the Phase IVa azea during this reporting period. Geomembrane ganels P162 through P184 were
deployed, seamed, and tested by Poly-Flex. Destructive seam samples DF-66 through DF-76 were
marked, removed, and tested.
Phase IVb
Phase III diversion channel and at the western end of the PSSA floor. Prior to placement of SF,
Ames removed the existing 84-inch highway CSP. Ames also continued slope recontouring in the
Phase IVb azea on the northern PSSA slope.
Ames continued placement of Structural Fill (SF) in the Phase IVb azea. Ames placed SF in the
Ames hauled oversize material from the Phase IVb area to an uncontrolled fill site.
Ames continued removal of the old diversion channel. This work consisted of removal of the
concrete headwall and CSP's underneath the old Highway 67 alignment, removal of channel rip-rap,
and demolition and removal of a concrete drop-structure.
Ames continued removal of topsoil from the northwest face of the substation hill azea. Uncontrolled
fill material was placed by Ames adjacent to the Secondary Crusher fill.
Ames continued removal of Drain Cover Fill (DCF) from the Phase III liner neaz Chicken Hawk Hill
and at the new LOB.
Ames performed confirmatory drilling activities associated with the Phase IVb construction area on
underground workings UG-493, the Ophir tunnel, UNK-11, and UNK-13 .
Ames performed excavation remediation activities for underground workings UG-252, UG-493, UG-
547, UNK-13, and UNK-14. These workings were observed and verified to be "Shallow or Deep" as
defined in the drawings and will be temediated accordingly.
Ames resumed construction of the Phase Nb Primary and Secondary underdrains by excavating the
trenches and placing materials.
Phase lVeSNune30.1uly U.doc Golder Associates Inc.
