•
•
•
ECS Sediment load is controlled in the cemetery
access road by a silt fence at SAE-2.
EC6 The elk creek access road is protected from
sediment reaching state waters by six
separate silt fences associated with
discharge points SAE-2, SAE-3, SAE-4, SAE-5,
SAE-6, and SAE-7.
contribute sediment to any state waters.
EC7 Erosion is controlled on the east yard
outslope primarily by vegetation, although
some areas of the outslopes vegetation are
thin. Runoff is diverted from the top of the
slope by a berm running along its crest.
This outslope has no access and will not be
disturbed by the mining operations. It is
unlikely that sediment would reach state
waters due to the distance runoff would have
to flow to discharge into Elk Creek. Any
rills or gullies that develop on the slope
will be repaired.
Sanborn Creek Facility: (see maps 5-019 & 5-021)
SC1 Runoff from the portal area is coursed
through straw bale filters to control
sediment load in any stormwater leaving the
site. No erosion should occur in this area
due to its gentle slope.
SC2 Sediment in the runoff from the lower portion
of the portal access road and the mine water
discharge pond embankment will be controlled
by either a silt fence or a straw bale filter
located at the drop inlet at the end of the
borrow ditch along the road. Erosion on the
slopes above the mine water discharge pond
and the cut slopes above the access road will
be controlled using vegetation.
SC3 Sediment load in runoff from the lower
portion of the conveyor corridor is
controlled by a berm on each side of the
conveyor. The runoff is delivered to a straw
bale filter. No erosion should occur in this
area due to its gentle slope.
SC4 Potential sediment in the runoff from the
upper portion of the portal access road will
be controlled by either a silt fence or a
8
