• The office for the Peacock Coal Mine will house mine operations
personnel.
Mechanical work on the mining equipment will be performed at the shop
facility. A welding facility will be included as part of the shop. The
warehouse will contain an inventory of equipment parts for use in the
maintenance program. Outside storage of larger parts and supplies will
be essential because of the limited building space. All cap lamps and
other miscellaneous underground safety equipment will be kept in the
shop. Miscellaneous lubricants and greases for the mining equipment
will be also be kept at the shop.
Coal Crushing, Handling and Load-Out Facilities
The coal crushing, handling and load-out facilities for the Peacock Coal
Mine includes the following: a coal crushing set-up, conveyors, a coal
storage area, and a load-out facility. The coal crushing, handling and
• load-out facility will be located as shown on the Drainage and Sediment
Control Plan Map (Map 6).
Coal is transported from the underground mining operations via a
conveyor belt. The coal is discharged into a coal stockpile. The coo l
can be loaded for market at this point, especially when lump coal is
desired, or it can be fed into a crusher. The crusher will reduce the
coal and discharge it onto another conveyor belt. The conveyor belt
will take the coal from the crusher to a coal storage bin. The coal can
then be fed by gravity directly into trucks which pass beneath the
structure.
The layout for the coal crushing, handling and load-out facility is
shown on the Drainage and Sediment Control Plan Map (Map 6).
Drainage from the crushing, handling and load-out facility will pass
through sedimentation pond as shown on the Drainage and Sediment Control
• Plan Map (Map 6).
2.05-16
