6. Although not immediately planned, it is expected that at some point in
time it will become Feasible for us to conduct a gravel washing operation
in order to produce concrete aggregates.
This operation will be performed using a portable washing plant that will
be situated on site. The actual location of the plant will depend upon
the progress of mining at that point.
Water will be supplied Prom the ditch that enters the property from the
south-east corner. The pond that will be constructed in the south-east
corner oP the property will be used for fresh water storage and will
supply process water. A clay lined settling pond will also be
constructed, which will capture the tailings and will be used to clarify
the used water. The clarified water will be recirculated through the
washing plant and be continuously used as process water. The sediment
that will be captured will be used as embankment fill in the reclamation
process. Tailings water will not exit the site.
7. An earth lined pond will be constructed in the extreme south-east corner.
This pond will be approximately 50 Peet by 50 Peet and 6 feet deep. The
location of this pond is depicted on the revised Mining Plan Map.
The pond will be filled with water from the Ouray Ditch that enters the
property at the south-east corner. United Companies owns the water rights
on this ditch for this purpose. The water wi 11 be used primari ly for dust
abatement at the site. When the asphalt plant is operating, the water
will be used for the wet scrubber on the plant. The water will also be
used to control fugitive dust on areas that are not other wise treated
with a palliative. As previously mentioned, the water will be used as
process water when the washing plant is operational. The ditch that
services the pond will be provided with a gated diversion box so that
water flow into the pond can be stopped when water is not required.
8. The post-mining land use that has been selected for this site is that of
rangeland.
Montrose County currently designates the area as an agricultural zone.
The post-mining use of rangeland is consistent with that zoning
designation.
The largest portion of the surrounding land is in various types of
agricultural uses ranging from pasture, cultivated hay crops, truck
farming, small vegetable gardens, and rangeland.
There are several commercial enterprises in the immediate area including
a RV park, a storage facility, an excavation company yard, a hunting
outfitter, a religious retreat, and a landscape company yard. To the
south of the subject site is a gravel pit and a gold mill.
9. A revised reclamation map that has contour lines on 5' intervals that
demonstrate the direction and rate of slope of all reclaimed areas is
included.
3
United Companies o/ Mesa County, Inc.
