3. Proposed timetable
a. After permit approval, construction will begin
by removal of all vegetation (large woody species
will be cut and stacked and all other will be
hauled to the nearest land fill). Then "A"
horizon (topsoil) will be removed and where possible
"B" horizon materials. These soil horizons will
be stockpiled separately and protected by approved
methods against wind and water erosion. Permanent
signs will be placed on the piles designating the
correct horizon.
b. As stated in Section 1, reclamation will be
accomplished in three phases.
(1) After construction, areas not in use or
inadvertently disturbed during construction will
be graded, bermed, ditched, etc. In the fall,
the seed mixture will be broadcast along with
fertilizer and covered with mulch.
(2) During operations, when a disturbed area is
no longer required, it will be graded to the
approximate original contour, "B" horizon material
(if available) distributed over the area first and
then the "A" horizon material. Finally, seed,
fertilizer and mulch will be applied.
(3) Upon completion of mining, all structures
will be removed including any concrete founda-
tions, etc. All of the coarse materials (concrete,
large rocks, etc.) will be placed against the high
wall in a manner that will achieve approximate
original contour. Then the "B" and "A" horizon
material will be placed on top. Reclamation will
procede as in (1) and (2) with the exception that
shrub and tree seedlings will be added to the
revegetation.
4. Rehabilitation
The Company believes that this mining operation will
not cause any adverse environmental impacts and that the end
result of the reclamation plan will be a net benefit to the
area.
a. Natural vegetation
All native species of grass, legume, shrub and
trees will be used in revegetating disturbed areas
unless otherwise directed by state or federal'
agencies.
