4-121
• cover is also lower (index = 0.51) because of the overwhelming
dominance of Utah Juniper and Salina wildrye.
Section 4.8.14, Summary, provides additional summary data for
sampled parameters (cover, production and density) of the af-
fected and reference areas.
4.8.13 Sample Characteristics and Adequacy
Table 4.8-31 provides data on the adequacy of cover, production
and density (both shrub and tree) sampling for each affected and
reference area and illustrates the comparability of each refer-
ence area to the affected area vegetation type. A statistically
adequate number of samples was taken for cover, production and
density in all affected and reference areas.
All reference areas are statistically comparable with respect
to cover except Shadscale Shrubland / The high cover in the
reference area results in ,the two sample areas being slightly
unrepresentative with respect to cover. Shadscale Shrublands
are, however, comparable with respect to production: The
Greasewood Shrubland is the only reference area not comparable
with respect to production. The higher production in the
reference results in the area being slightly unrepresentative.
•
