4-121(1)
. 4.8.13.1 NOXIOUS WEED CONTROL PLAN
At the time of this writing, 2006, White Top, Canada Thistle and Russian
Knapweed have been identified in the disturbed area. At the request of
the Division, the Operator's efforts are being formalized with the following
weed control plan.
This weed control plan is concerned with the control of alf varieties of
noxious weeds on the mine site. It was developed based on
recommendations by Steve Anthony of Garfield County.
Canada Thistle will be sprayed with Curtail, 2 quarts/acre mixed with a
non-ionic surfactant at 1 quart per 100 gallons of spray. It will not be
applied when spray particles may be carried by air currents to areas
where desirable plants are growing. Spraying will be done by use of a
backpack spray system or an ATV mounted spray tank.
Canada Thistle should be sprayed in the spring, prior to bud stage.
Whitetop will be sprayed with Dupont Escort, 1-2 ozlacre mixed with a
non-ionic surfactant at 1 quart per 100 gallons. It will not be applied when
• spray particles may be carried by air currents to areas where desirable
plants are growing. Spraying will be done by use of a backpack spray
system or an ATV mounted spray tank.
Whitetop should be treated in the Spring between mid-April and mid-May
in the pre-flower stage.
Russian Knapweed will be sprayed with Curtail, 3 quarts/acre mixed with a
non-ionic surfactant at 1 quart per 100 gallons. It will not be applied when
spray particles may be carried by air currents to areas where desirable
plants are growing. Spraying will be done by use of a backpack spray
system or an ATV mounted spray tank.
Russian Knapweed should be treated in the Spring, prior to bud stage.
The operator commits to performing aggressive weed control during the
operations and reclamation phases of the operation.

Mu Volume 1 02/06
