Iii
' Honeywood Coal Company
Stormwater Management Plan
Page 3
Vegetation will be the primary sediment control feature
for stormwater runoff from the sediment pond outslopes.
' If rills occur on the pond outslopes they will be
repaired. Vegetation will be reseeded and mulched if
necessary.
t
d. Good Housekeeping: The good housekeeping requirement for
' this plan consists of performing the required preventive
maintenance. Drainage ditches and ditch turnouts will be
shaped and cleared at least twice a year, in the spring
and fall. The outslopes of the ponds will be maintained
' as necessary.
e. Spill Prevention and Response Procedures: There are no
areas where potential spills could occur outside of the
' portion of the operation that contributes runoff to areas
subject to effluent limitation guidelines.
t f. Best Management Practices:
1) There are no areas where stormwater needs to be
1 diverted away from material handling and storage
areas to prevent stormwater contamination.
2) Materials handling and spill prevention practices
' are not required because there are no areas where
potential spills could occur that would contribute
' pollutants to stormwater runoff.
3) Sediment and erosion prevention is required in two
types of areas. The two areas include the haul
' road drainage and the drainage from the outslopes
of the ponds.
The haul road drainage ditches collect runoff from
the road and from drainage areas adjacent to the
road. Ditch turnouts are constructed along the haul
road ditches on a maximum of 1,000 feet spacing.
The ditch turnouts direct the stormwater flow from
the haul road drainage ditches into sediment
fences, straw bale check dams or other similar
' structures.
The outslopes of the ponds will be mulched and
vegetated. Mulch and vegetation will reduce the
amount of sediment that can be transported by
stormwater from the pond outslopes.

1
