• and therefore, are not known. The only area within the proposed
permit boundary requiring topsoil removal is a 5.3 acre tract
between Routt County Road #179 and the Middle Creek Mine highwall.
A single 18 inch lift, or approximately 12,800 BCY of topsoil
materials will be salvaged from this area with scrapers and
immediately redistributed on Area 2, as shown on Map 15, Topsoil
Redistribution.
As mentioned previously, CYCC does not have a record of the
topsoil stripping depth utilized on areas disturbed before June
1976. Thereafter, suitable plant growth media (SPGM) was stripped
to an average depth of 20 inches.
• (d) A narrative or table shall be provided which addresses the
suitability of each major soil horizon as a plant growth media based on
its physical and chemical characteristics.
f:iJF~~l~'S:~
The criteria presented in Table 35, Wyoming DEQ Guidelines for
Suitability Ratings for Soils as Sources of Topsoiling Materials
were used to ascertain the desirability of stockpiled and
undisturbed soils as a plant growth media. Table 36, Soil Chemical
and Physical Properties summarizes the data derived from the
laboratory analysis of each sample. The sixteen samples submitted
• for analysis are rated according to the Wyoming DEQ Guidelines in
Table 37, Suitability Ratings for Energy Nine No. 3 Soils as a
2.04-67
