The only area within the proposed <br />permit boundary requiring topsoil removal is a 5.3 acre tract <br />between Routt County Road #179 and the Middle Creek Mine highwall. <br />A single 18 inch lift, or approximately 12,800 BCY of topsoil <br />materials will be salvaged from this area with scrapers and <br />immediately redistributed on Area 2, as shown on Map 15, Topsoil <br />Redistribution. <br />As mentioned previously, CYCC does not have a record of the <br />topsoil stripping depth utilized on areas disturbed before June <br />1976. Thereafter, suitable plant growth media (SPGM) was stripped <br />to an average depth of 20 inches. <br />• (d) A narrative or table shall be provided which addresses the <br />suitability of each major soil horizon as a plant growth media based on <br />its physical and chemical characteristics. <br />f:iJF~~l~'S:~ <br />The criteria presented in Table 35, Wyoming DEQ Guidelines for <br />Suitability Ratings for Soils as Sources of Topsoiling Materials <br />were used to ascertain the desirability of stockpiled and <br />undisturbed soils as a plant growth media. Table 36, Soil Chemical <br />and Physical Properties summarizes the data derived from the <br />laboratory analysis of each sample. The sixteen samples submitted <br />• for analysis are rated according to the Wyoming DEQ Guidelines in <br />Table 37, Suitability Ratings for Energy Nine No. 3 Soils as a <br />2.04-67 <br />
