• Colorado Yampa Coal Company is not certain of the topsoil
salvage depth used at Bnergy Mine No. 3 prior to June 1976.
Approzimately 20 inches of topoil materials were stripped from the
disturbed area between the years 1976 and 1980.
(b) Soils analysis for representative samples of each soil horizon
for each soil type with analysis conducted by a laboratory using
standardized soil testing procedure. Soil testing parameters shall
include:
(i)
(ii)
(iii)
• (iv)
(v)
for good cause shown.
BSSPONSE:
pH;
Salt hazard (electrical conductivity);
Sodium Adsorption Ratio;
Particle size analysis (texture); and
Other chemical analysis as required by the Division
The analysis of soil samples acquired from each horizon of all
soil types eaisting within the proposed permit area was not
possible, since the profiles were disturbed before this requirement
vas instituted. Therefore, sampling of the eaisting stockpiles vas
undertaken in order to obtain information on soil properties of the
salvaged materials.
• Twelve saples were collected for lab analysis, one Erom each
2.04-65
