• RBSPONSS:
Topsoil materials were salvaged from the disturbed area
preceding the initiation of surface coal mining operations. Since
suitable plant growth media (SPGM) was removed and stockpiled before
premine soil resource inventories were mandated by State or Federal
regulatory agencies, very little site specific information is
available to CYCC.
The only topsoil samples submitted for laboratory analysis were
collected from the 0 to 8 inch depth during a premine vegetation
investigation. Sampling locations were not recorded when the plant
communities were inventoried.
•
The parameters investigated were pH, electrical conductivity
(E.C.), saturation percentage, and sodium adsorption ratio (SAR).
Besulta from these analyses are presented in Table 36, Soil Chemical
and Physical Properties.
Supplemental information on the edaphic system ezistiag within
the proposed permit area was derived from a soil survey prepared by
the DSDA Soil Conservation Service. The List of soil types
presented in Table 34, Soil Tazonomic Classification was compiled
with the order 3 soils map included in the aforementioned SCS
report. The soil series delineated in the SCS study are described
• is Exhibit 7, Soil Profile Descriptions and Exhibit 8, Soil Mapping
IInit Descriptions.
2.04-64
