We have
developed a method of drilling in confined areas, inside buildings, using
O-Dex to place monitoring wells and recovery wells inside of existing
buildings.
Urad Mlne Project near Berthoud CO:
Ground Exploration Company, Inc. drilled borings in the tailings
ponds which were created during the Molybdenum extraction process.
One of the problems in drilling in this area were the layers of ice which
were buried during construction of the tailing ponds. During the winter
months the tailing ponds would freeze over having up to 10' of ice, which
would be buried in the summer months. These areas of ice were still
frozen and acted as a confining layer, separating layers in the
groundwater. These areas werh extremely difficult to drill and case.
Ground Exploration Company, Inc. was able to drill using Air Rotary and
the O-Dex method to the bottom of the tails and then core the soils below
the tailings.
Site on South Evans that manufactured formed concrete
curing products and formed released products:
Ground Exploration Company, Inc, was hired by the owners consultant to
drill shallow and deep monitoring wells to determine the extent and
amount of groundwater Contamination caused by the owners
manufacturing process. The owner manufacturing concrete curing
compounds and form release oil. For 20 years a great deal of this
product had been lost onto the soil and had contaminated the site.
Ground Exploration Company, Inc. drilled shallow groundwater
monitoring wells to determine the extent and the amount of surtace
contamination. We also drilled three deeper monitoring wells. We drilled
a 10" diameter boring placing a 6 5/8'..188 wall steel casing to the
claystone bedrock. The hole was drilled to the desired depth and then
filled with grout consisting of 5% Bentonite to neat Portland with 7 gallons
of water. This was trimmied to the surtace and then the steel casing was
lowered into the well. After the grout had sufficient time to harden it was
