This was to <br />determine if the lower aquifer had any influence from the upper aquifer. <br />The difficulty of this project was that all of the equipment had to be <br />thoroughly cleaned between the upper and lower portion the well to <br />verify that none of the materials on the upper portion of the well was <br />being brought to the lower portion of the well, and contaminating the <br />lower aquifer. <br />Mayflower Darn at the Clime: Mine Site near l.eadville CO: <br />Ground Exploration Company, Inc. drilled borings in the center of the <br />dam to determine the extent and quality of the construction of the dam, <br />and to determine if the Soils beneath the dam were contaminated. Soil <br />borings were drilled through the dam embankment and a steel casing <br />was placed into the natural soils and driven approximately 10' into the <br />soils to seal off the upper materials. The borings were then advanced an <br />additional 10' and sampled to determine if any contamination was in <br />these soils. <br />
