• 2.05.4(2)(c) Backfilling and Grading (Continued)
line located fifty (50) feet short, and parallel to the Raton
Natural Gas Co. pipeline, final reclamation will take place. If
sufficient topsoil is unavailable locally to reclaim the surface
addition topsoil will be taken from the storage area.
The restored Phase 1 surface area will exhibit a somewhat
shrunken surface area due to the coal bed being removed. There
will not be any overburden or topsoil left standing or stored.
To commence the Phase 2 operation Engleville Gulch will bs
moved into its new, permanent channnel. Construction will start
on the No. 2 collection ditch and the trough to transfer the
water across the diverted channel to collection ditch No. 1
will be installed. After initial mining to remove the topsoil,
• overburden, and coal in and around the old cnannel backfilling
can begin. Here again, it way be necessary to momentarily
double stack overburden to open an area large enough to mine the
coal and allow the equipwent to work.
The drag line will backfill overburden into the wined out
Phase 2 pit in the save wanner as it did in Phase 1. As back-
filling and contouring of the spent spoil takes place topsoil
will be added from that salvaged in front of the drag line and
from the originally stockpiled material. At the completion of
Phase 2 pit all of the topsoil stored in the stockpile area will
be redistributed over reclalwed coal stockpiles and any other
disturbed area where it is needed. Thera will not be any
topsoil or overburden piles remaining.
•
2
