Here the overburden <br />to coal ratio is roughly on a one to one stripping ratio which <br />will yield ample operating room for equipment to start <br />operations. Initially, after the topsoil is removed and stored, <br />the first overburden over the coal will be moved to a <br />temporary pile west of the pit in order to uncover the coal for <br />mining. As the coal is removed from the pit the temporary pile <br />will be returned to the pit and additional overburden from above <br />the coal will be added to it. This will constitute the initial <br />backfilling operation. Fro^ this initial overburden, thought to <br />• be mostly gravel. the permanent diversion of Engleville Oulch <br />will be constructed, however, additional boulders for the lining <br />may be brought in from another source. Prior to attempting to <br />operate over the old underground workings a drag line will be <br />brought in to do the stripping. The initial cut, and coal <br />removal, is expected to leave a slot approximately 700 feet long <br />which will form the baseline from which the drag line can <br />operate. From here through the remainder of the Phase 1 <br />operation the drag line will cast overburden to backfill the pit <br />following removal of the coal. A dozer working in conjunction <br />with the drag line can hurriedly flatten the spent spoil to <br /> receive redistributed topsoil removed in front of the stripping. <br />• At the completion of the Phase 1 operation, which ends at a <br /> 1 <br />
