Section 779.22 (b) Continued.
• Yearly production records for the entire mining operations are
shown in Table 1, Historical Production Rates.
The 1?nds prior to any mining were used as rangeland, pastureland
and cropland for domestic livestock and wildlife grazing and
cropping. Examination of aerial photographs in possession of
Energy Fuels taken prior to mining all of the existing acreage for
Paine No. 1 with the exception of the wheatland described in the
Twentymile Park Land Use (Map 31) was native rangeland. Some areas
were treated for sagebrush but these lands still supported native
forage species.
Areas of cropland were mined on the west side of the current
operation between Mine No. 1 and the present tipple. Some minor
acreages in the southeastern portion of Mine No. 2, were wheatland
prior to mining. The remainder of the lands at Mine No. 2 were
• rangeland and pastureland. Along Fish Creek on the west portion of
Energy Mine No. 2, the aiea was rangeland while land to the east of
the present operation at Mine No. 2 were classified as pastureland.
Based upon comparable undisturbed land within the mine plan area
and statements by long-time Routt County residents, the land (which
has now been mined) was generally not suited for any farming due to
existing slopes and climatic conditions.
(c) The application shall contain a description of the existing land
uses and land use classifications under local law, if any, of the
proposed mine plan and adjacent areas.
The Routt County Commissioners in conjunction with the Routt
County Planning Commission have designated the lands within the
proposed mine plan and adjacent areas for uses of agriculture and
forestry. The land use in the proposed mining plan area is range-
land, cropland and pastureland used mainly for domestic livestock
• and wildlife use and some cropping; no commercial forestry has ever
been conducted within the mire plan area. Energy Fuels currently
779-316
