<br />' 6.0 FILL PLACEMENT AND COMPACTION <br />Fill materials shall be placed to the lines and grades shown in the <br />drawings. Fill slopes shall not exceed 2H:1V unless otherwise shown in <br />the drawings or directed by the Engineer. <br />6.1 Fill Placement (General) <br />No materials shall be placed until the foundation end subgrade <br />preparations have been completed as specified and approved by the <br />Engineer. The procedures for the construction of the fills shall be <br />' discussed with and approved by the Engineer prior to start of fill <br />placement. <br /> <br /> No brush, roo ts, sod , or other deleterious or unsuitable <br />' materials shall be <br />i <br />l <br />i <br />d <br />t <br />t <br />d placed <br />f in the fill <br />fill <br />ill s. Fill shall not be placed upon saturated surfaces nor <br /> upon loose wind blown materials. Fill placement shall be <br /> temporarily stopped due to unsuitable weather conditions such as <br />wind storms or thunderstorms upon the direction of the Engineer. <br />If the surface of the prepared foundation or the surface of <br />any layer of the fill is too dry or too smooth toibond properly <br />' with the layer of material to be placed thereon, it shall be <br />moistened andJor worked with harrow, scarifier, or other equipment <br />to provide a satisfactory bonding surface before the next layer of <br />fill material is placed. If the surface of the prepared foundation <br />or the rolled surface of any layer of the fill in-place is too we*. <br />for proper compaction of the layer of fill material to be placed <br />thereon, it shall be removed and allowed to dry or is shall be <br />' worked with harrow, scarifier, or other equipment to reduce the <br />moisture content to the required amount. It shall then bE~ compacted <br />before the next layer of fill material is placed. Determination of <br />such dry or wet conditions shall be by the Engineer. <br /> <br />N-10 <br /> <br />
