Revised I/I1/BO
•
possibly be required to anchor the straw mulch that could pos-
sibly be broadcast on areas that are not amenable to seeding
the annual cereal grain mulch. For example, chemical tacki-
fiers may be used in areas where, because of steep slopes
equipment is not able to adequately punch straw mulch, such
as topsoil stockpiles, road slopes, diversion ditches, sedi-
mentation ponds and other inaccessible areas. Tackifiers
that might possibly be used zre those recommended by Cook,
et al. (1972) and are documented as having no adverse plant
growth inhibiting properties.
Section 816.114 Continued
Finally, it should be noted that EFC will not use a
woody fiber aspen mulch, due to the fact that the equipment which
was to have produced that material proved to be unsuccessful
in on the ground operational tests. In the event the: annual
grain mulching technique does not prove acceptable, EFC pro-
poses, as a contingency, to use straw mulch or other accE:p-
table mulching material. EFC will submit specific plans for
these contingency mulching techniques for OSbi and MLRD appro-
val should the implementation of such contingency plans
appear necessary.
816-153 (g)
