EXHIBIT H - 2
MINED T~AND WILDLIFE STATEMENT/EVALIIATION (Re••~^ed)
for limited impact and select regular mine applications
The following information pertaining to wildlife is provided for
use by Mined Land Reclamation Board in their consideration of a
mining permit for:
~yL;L-Hoffman-Revher X13: 23.796 acres in S~SS32-T22S-R48W; Bent County, Colorado
Name/Type and Location of Mine (Legal)
Wildlife 8pecl.eS List: Deer, coyote, raccoon, prairie dog, jack rabbit,
ground squirrel, mourning dove, pheasant, quail, borrowing owl, turkey,
raptors, song birds.
Endangered/Critical Species/Impacted: Area occassionally visited by golden
eagles and bald eagles, however their use of the area continues with the activity
at adjacent pits.
Critical Habitats/Vegetative Communities Impacted: River riparian if the
pit or fill is closer then SO-100 yards from the riparian zone (in this case river
buffs and/or hill crests).
Assessment of Impact: If a buffer zone is maintained the impacts to wildlife
should be negligible. If a buffer zone separating the site from adjacent riparian
habitat is not established then the proposal could have strong negative impacts
on the riparian zone through erosion, loss of habitat, loss of vegetation, and
disturbance. These impacts could affect wildlife species either directly or
indirectly.
Mine Reclamation Recommendations (include key species/habitats for
whic:L res*_oration is 3esigned):
Avoid impacts to the riparian habitat zone. Reclaim the site to a minimum
3H:1V slope using stockpiled topsoil. Reseed the site with native grasses
as per SCS recommendations and fence the site to exclude cattle until adequate
cover exists, as per MLRD specifications, for release of bond. If smockp~led
topsoil is left for a period exceeding six months then it should be temporarily
seeded to avoid erosion.
Prepeired By:
Submitted By:
7-7-91
Date• 7-10-91
This statement is void if npf processed within 1 year.
This analysis does not constitute approval of application.
