INTRODUCTION <br />2.1 STUDY OBJECTIVES ANO TERMS OF REFERENCE <br />The purpose of this report is to summarize a short assessment <br />study that was carried out with the following two objectives: <br />1) Determine aquifer characteristics within the Chimney <br />Rock Coal Company's (CRCC) Martinez Strip mine. <br />2) Estimate groundwater inflow into the mine pits. <br />This study was requested, in order to fulfill requirements as <br />requested by the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division <br />(CMLRD), in a letter of adequacy review dated September; 1982. <br />• 2.2 SCOPE OF WORK <br />The project was initiated on September 7. 1982 under a letter of <br />contract requesting the project be completed by September 15, <br />1962. <br />This investigation included the following: <br />1) Supervision, data collection, and analysis of two <br />aquifer tests. <br />2) Analytical calculation of inflows to an existing pit and <br />to a proposed new pit. <br /> <br />
