area of refuse disposal. As shown on Map No. 17, the final contours of
the refuse facility will eliminate the steep highwall that currently
exists on the north side of the bench area, making the area more suitable
for grazing cattle. If the coal processing waste is determined to be
toxic-forming or acid-forming, Rule 4.14.3 will be followed.
The sediment pond, which is to remain at the request of the landowner,
will handle runoff from all revegetated areas. The permanent diversion
of Starkville Gulch will continue to bypass runoff from the watershed
above the mine site. Ditches installed above the refuse facility will
remain to keep as much runoff as possible away from the coal waste
embankment.
The breakdown of disturbed areas at the mine site is as follows:
Current Actual:
• Future Maximum:
Current to not be reclaimed:
Current to be reclaimed:
Total to be reclaimed
over life of operation:

28.6 acres
36.7 acres
5.8 acres
22.8 acres
30.9 acres
(Sed. Pond,
Permanent
Diversion, Haul
Road, Shop
Building)
483 Revised - 04/13/90
