Gravel deposits are underlain. by <br />decomposed silty claystones and fine-grained sandstones of <br />the Dakota sandstone formation. <br />Processing operations of crushing and screening shall occur <br />in the above described Proc/Stock area immediately east of <br />mining Units I S II. A wheeled front-loader shall extract <br />the gravel resource from the Unit I pit and load it into the <br />feeder for the primary crusher or screen plant. Belted <br />conveyors shall move the product between equipment units and <br />to the belted radial stacker for stockpiling. Occasionally <br />a wheeled front-loader shall be used to move products around <br />the site. <br />Sand and gravel products stockpiled at the site shall be <br />truck hauled to area markets from the site via the existing <br />on-site access road to Montezuma County Road 21, and beyond. <br />When Unit I mining area extraction is nearing completion at <br />the northwest corner, overburden backfilling into the <br />excavated south edge of the pit may begin by dozing the <br />stockpiled overburden over the south edge. A stable 3- <br />Horizontal to 1-Vertical (3H 1V) slope shall be graded <br />into the south edge headwall, using overburden as fill <br />material, as backfilling proceeds to the west.
