Intrusion: The "Slouch Road" is an existing intrusion on the
landscape. The proposed road design will replace "Slouch Road" with
disturbance of a slightly lazger scale, but through revegetation the
eventual visual contrasts with the chazcateristic landscape should be
less than is presently observable.
VRM Class: So few people will actually see the proposed road that it
could be considered in a Seldan Seen Zone, but for this analysis it is
accepted as visible and placed in VRM Class III. The above described
contrast ratings aze in cu~liance with the Management Objective of
VRM Class III.
WATER SERVICE LINE
Visibility: The proposed water line will be located almost entirely
in Seldom Seen Zones.
Contrast Rating: Much of the water line alignment will follow
existing "jeep" roads creating limited new disturbance.
VRM Class: The water line construction is canpatable with VRM Class
1V for which it qualifies since it is seldom seen.
POWER SERVICE LINE
• Visibility: The proposed power line will be visible to travelers on
the Stevens Gulch Road. The scale of the structure is too small to be
seen outside of Stevens Gulch.
Contrast Rating: The support poles, crossarms and lines are
anticipated to create moderate to weak contrasts.
Intrusion: Stevens Gulch is already heavily influenced by intrusion
on the characteristic landscape. The new power line will be an
insignificant intrusion on the visual quality of Stevens Gulch when
oon~ared to the existing Orchard Valley Mine facilities and Stevens
Gulch Road.
VRM Class: Stevens Gulch is in VRM Class III. The ~ntrast of the
proposed power line is compatible with the Management Objectives of
Class III.
7
C~
